Avis HatcherPuzzo is the Associate Professor of Dance/Theater at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. A Connecticut native, trained in New England and NYC, she holds a B.A. in Dance/Theater from Trinity College, M.F.A. in Theater Arts/Dance from Case Western Reserve University, and M.S. Higher Education (Curriculum and Adult Education) Capella University. Former dance and theater faculty for two performing arts high schools, Regional Center for the Arts and Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, The Westover School in Middlebury, CT she has also taught dance, theater and music in K-12 public and charter schools throughout New England and New York. Moving to NC in 2008, she creating a dance minor for Fayetteville State University in 2011. 2012, she founded Koffee Dance Company (KDC), a Horton-based contemporary dance company for southern college dance program graduates to train and perform African-diaspora based work. Known as Ms. Avis she teaches Horton, modern/contemporary, jazz, hiphop, African dance styles as well as physical acting and performance practices.
